Total nonfarm employment in the Wenatchee metropolitan district was 49,100 jobs in March 2025, an increase of 1,600 jobs from March 2024, and an increase of 500 jobs from February 2025. In Douglas County, total covered employment grew from 10,926 jobs in 2013 to 12,358 jobs in 2023, up by 1,432 jobs a 13.1% increase. Retail trade accounted for 40% of all covered jobs added from 2013 to 2023. The government makes up the largest industry sector with an annual average employment of 8,976 jobs out of 42,564 total annual average employment. The county has 1,095 establishments employing workers covered by the Washington State Employment Security Act. Douglas County’s 16 and older population was 34,059 in 2023.

Douglas County, located in central Washington, is between Wenatchee, the Colville Reservation, and the banks of the Columbia River.

It is part of the Wenatchee, WA Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), comprised of Chelan and Douglas counties.
