April 2025 Highlights

In April, the not seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate decreased from 5.8% to 4.7%. Total nonfarm employment increased by 330 jobs in Okanogan County over the year.

Total nonfarm employment during April 2025 was 13,700 jobs, an increase of 330 jobs from April 2024 and a slight decrease of 10 jobs over the month. Government jobs increased by 80 jobs over the year but decreased by 60 jobs over the month. Retail trade gained 90 jobs over the year and leisure and hospitality gained 70 jobs over the same period. The government sector makes up the largest industry with an annual average employment of 5,085 jobs out of 17,037 total annual average employment. The county has 1,474 establishments employing workers covered by the Washington State Employment Security Act. The population of people ages 16-and-above is 34,281.

  • The not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.7% during April 2025, down from 4.8% in April 2024.

  • The labor force totaled 18,059 workers, a decrease of 379 workers since April 2024.

Payroll employment

  • Total nonfarm employment during April 2025 was 13,700 jobs, an increase of 330 jobs from April 2024 but a slight decrease of 10 jobs over the month.

  • Retail trade increased 90 jobs from April 2024 and increased 10 jobs over the month.

  • Leisure and hospitality increased 70 jobs from April 2024 and increased 50 jobs over the month.

  • Professional and business services increased 20 jobs from April 2024 and was unchanged over the month.

  • Government jobs increased by 80 jobs from April 2024 but decreased by 60 jobs over the month. The one-month job decline from March 2025 was concentrated in the local government subsector.
