Lincoln County’s economy is predominantly natural resource-based economy significant land owned by the Colville Confederated Tribe and Colville National Forest. Less than 18% of the county is privately owned. Early settlers were drawn by gold and transitioned to lumber post-gold rush. Access was improved in the 1930s with the creation and development of Lake Roosevelt by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Gold mining in Republic was a major source of employment, though it’s been declining since 2018. Federal, state, and local government jobs on public lands mitigate job losses.

Lincoln County is located in the eastern part of Washington state. It is known for its rich agricultural heritage. The city of Davenport serves as the county seat and is also the largest city in Lincoln County.
The county covers 2,339 square miles, including 36 square miles of water. It features a diverse landscape with rolling wheat fields, river valleys, and the scenic shores of Lake Roosevelt.
Lincoln County was created out of Whitman County in 1883 and is named after Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.
