Compared to December 2025, the unemployment rate decreased from 7.4% to 6.9% (542 unemployed individuals). Employers reported 50 fewer jobs on payrolls (for a total of 6,240 jobs).

Key changes in payroll employment 

This includes all employees with paid positions tracked in a company’s payroll system. This doesn’t include agriculture jobs or jobs outside of formal payroll such as freelancers, contractors and self-employed individuals. Numbers in this section are estimates generated by a monthly survey.

In January 2026, Pacific County has 6,240 jobs.

One month ago, in Dec. 2025 there were 50 more jobs on payrolls (for a total of 6,290 jobs).

  • 1,160 goods-producing jobs, which is unchanged.
  • 50 fewer service-providing jobs. The largest decrease was in private education and health services. Many other service industries were unchanged over the month.

One year ago, in Jan. 2025 there were 160 (2.6%) fewer jobs on payrolls (for a total of 6,080 jobs).

  • 40 (3.6%) more goods-producing jobs. These increases primarily occurred in mining and logging.
  • 120 (2.4%) more service-providing jobs. These included:
  • 40 (4.5%) more leisure and hospitality jobs.
  • 30 (1.6%) more government jobs. This increase was driven by local government.
