Compared to December 2025, the unemployment rate increased from 4.8% to 5.5% (101 unemployed individuals). Employers reported 10 more jobs on payrolls (for a total of 1,340 jobs).
Columbia County's labor market highlights
- Columbia County maintained steady, modest economic growth through 2024–2025, driven largely by strong health care, education and retail sectors. These industries continue to anchor local stability and employment.
- The resident workforce has fluctuated over the past decade, with strong pre‑pandemic growth, pandemic-era declines and a rebound after 2021. By 2024–2025, labor force and employment levels stabilized with slight declines.
- Health care expansion, including new facilities has fueled job creation and strengthened local business activity. Community development efforts in infrastructure and digital connectivity are poised to support additional employment.
- Overall, the county is prioritizing long-term economic vitality through workforce development, small business support and inclusive growth initiatives.
