Call 800-752-2500, option 3. A plan specialist can tell you if your business qualifies — usually in about 2 minutes. All you need is your business name and ESD number.
Required materials
You will need all of the following materials to apply for the SharedWork program.
Download and complete the:
Your business details
- Employment Security Department number (ESD number).
- Business name or 'doing business as' name.
- Mailing address, including county and any other operating locations.
Employee details
- Total number of your employees who will participate in SharedWork.
- Their legal first and last names.
- Social Security numbers.
- Hire dates.
- Hourly rates of pay.
- Usual weekly work hours.
- Estimated number of jobs you'll save by using SharedWork.
Union details
If your company affiliates with a union, you need to list:
- The name of the affiliated union.
- The union representative's signature.
Other signatures
An authorized person at your company needs to sign your application. Examples of authorized people include:
- Owners.
- General managers.
- Chief financial officers.
- Human resource managers.
Choose a SharedWork employer representative
When you apply, you need to choose someone to be your SharedWork employer representative. We recommend that you also choose another person to be an alternate.
The representative(s) will work with both SharedWork staff at ESD and with your participating employees. They will manage your plan and your employees' benefits. SharedWork staff need to be able to easily reach your representatives.

How to apply
Choose the method that works best for you.
Apply online
- To apply online, you first need a SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account and access to locked services in the Employer Account Management System (EAMS). It's a lot of steps, but you likely completed one or more steps already. Read complete instructions on the About eServices for employers page.
- Sign into eServices. Enter the same username and password you used to create your SAW account.
- Step 3 differs based on who you are:
- For employers: Once you're inside eServices, choose "Apply for SharedWork" under "I want to."
- For professional employer organizations: Once you're inside eServices, choose a client. Then choose "Apply for SharedWork" under "I want to."
Apply by secure electronic upload or fax
- Fill out all forms, including all dates and signatures.
- Save completed documents to your computer. Add your company's name to the file names.
- Upload your SharedWork documents or fax them to 800-701-7754.
