Video: Agency leaders speak to the media about adjusting unemployment call center hours

Released on

Commissioner Cami Feek, Director of Insurance Services JR Richards, and Chief Labor Economist Anneliese Vance-Sherman spoke with media on Oct. 27 about adjusted hours for the unemployment benefits call center.

To help meet rising demand and accelerate unemployment benefit payments, the Employment Security Department launched a 90-day pilot to adjust call center hours. The change allows staff to dedicate more time to process claims. Private-sector layoffs, seasonal applications, and the federal government shutdown continue to increase demand for unemployment.

Starting the week of Oct. 27, 2025, call center hours are:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (normal hours).
  • Tuesday, Thursday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. (adjusted hours).
