OLYMPIA – The Employment Security Department, along with state and local partners, will host another layoff assistance webinar for state of Washington employees and contractors. The webinar is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 21.

Registration is free and is open until the event starts. There is no limit to the number of participants who can register. Register for the Aug. 21 webinar.

The event is the fifth webinar organized for state workers. They are part of the state’s rapid response efforts for large layoffs, intended to help state workers who are laid off, facing a furlough or expecting a workforce reduction. The information will help affected workers navigate available unemployment benefits and reemployment resources.

Webinars for state workers in June, July and August drew hundreds of attendees. Due to the large number expected again, staff hosting the webinar will not be able to address questions about bumping and other specific situations.

Webinar topics include:

  • Unemployment benefits: how to file and get help.
  • What to do about health care benefits.
  • Expanding your job skills through training and educational programs.
  • Career guidance, job search help and other free resources.
  • What to do with your state retirement account.

Webinar hosts include Employment Security, WorkSource, Local Workforce Development Boards, Washington Health Plan Finder, Washington State Community & Technical Colleges and the Washington State Labor Council.

This webinar receives support and funding from a U.S. Department of Labor grant. Read more on the USDOL grants page.
