OLYMPIA – Employment Security Department Commissioner Cami Feek began her yearlong term Thursday as the newly elected board chair for the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA). Feek, who has served as Employment Security commissioner since June 2021, was first elected to the NASWA board a year ago as vice chair.

NASWA represents workforce agencies in all 50 states, D.C., and U.S. territories. These agencies, similar to the Washington State Employment Security Department, administer unemployment insurance, veteran reemployment and labor market information programs. With local partners, they also provide training, employment and career services to job seekers, and business services to employers.

NASWA gives policy expertise, shares promising state practices, and promotes state innovation and leadership in workforce development.

“I am deeply honored to be entrusted with this responsibility during such a pivotal time in our nation,” Feek told attendees at the annual NASWA Summit on Thursday. “It fills me with both humility and resolve. I know that our greatest strength lies in collaboration and unity. I accept this role with deep appreciation for the diverse expertise and passion each of you brings to our collective work.”
