Verify your identity

This page pertains to you only if you are an unemployment claimant who received a message in your eServices account stating that you need to verify your identity using ID.me.

If you did not receive the message, you don’t need to take action on this page.

If you did receive the message, you must verify your identity by the date in your letter.

Here’s how:

  1. Refer to your letter for a deadline date to ensure you complete this process on time.

  2. Read the information on this page.

  3. Gather the documents you will need. Open this step-by-step guide to find the list of documents and instructions.

  4. When you’re ready, select the Verify with ID.me button below. This will take you to the ID.me website to start the process.

Avoid common mistakes

The most common mistakes happen when customers upload documents. Read about these common errors and how to avoid them.

Tips
  • If you have all your documents ready when you start, the entire process should take only about 5 to 10 minutes.

  • When you create your ID.me account, practice good security and use a password different from the one you use to access your eServices account.

  • Using an internet browser that is NOT Internet Explorer will probably give you a better experience.

What is ID.me?

ID.me is a federally certified identity company specializing in digital identity protection. ID.me helps the Washington State Employment Security Department make sure you are who you say you are – and not someone pretending to be you.

Other federal agencies use ID.me, including the Social Security Administration, and the departments of Veterans Affairs and Treasury. Government agencies in California, Florida, Nevada and other states also trust and use ID.me to protect the identities of their customers.

The partnership between Washington’s Employment Security Department and ID.me allows us to reduce the risk of fraud so we can pay you quickly.
