OLYMPIA - The state's WorkSource system is launching a new initiative connecting mid-level career professionals and college graduates to jobs.

Washington Employment Security Department is funding 12 new positions statewide to help increase engagement with white-collar workers, graduates of universities, colleges and apprenticeship programs and professionals making career changes. They will ensure job seekers benefit from WorkSource services and ultimately are matched with employers seeking their particular skills. Called Career Pathway Navigators, the new positions will be located at WorkSource centers.

"The Career Pathway Navigators will help connect job seekers with great employers and provide employers with the talent they need," said Employment Security Commissioner Dale Peinecke.

The 12 new employees will team up with business outreach staff from the state Workforce Development Councils to assist in marketing WorkSource resources to employers and discuss candidates for job openings. They will coordinate with educational institutions to ensure graduating students are connected with WorkSource for job match assistance. They will also participate in local Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Councils and other professional organizations to showcase the value of WorkSource to meet local hiring needs.

ESD has funded the positions through June 2017. The agency expects to have completed hiring by April. To apply, visit ESD Jobs and search for "Career Pathway Navigator."

Washington's WorkSource system is a statewide partnership of state, local and nonprofit agencies that deliver a wide array of employment and training services for job seekers and employers.

In 2014, staff at 68 WorkSource centers, affiliates and connections sites helped roughly 169,500 workers and nearly 5,600 Washington employers.

Studies have shown that people who use WorkSource job-search services tend to find work faster and earn more money than those who don't. WorkSource locations can be found on go2worksource.com.
