Washington’s average wage grows by 4.2 percent in 2014
OLYMPIA – Washington’s average annual wage increased by 4.2 percent in 2014 to $54,829, according to the state Employment Security Department – the largest percentage increase since 2007. The average weekly wage rose to $1,054 – up from $1,012 in in 2013. These figures include only those wages that are covered by unemployment insurance.

Washington's unemployment rate dips below national average
OLYMPIA - Washington's unemployment rate dipped below the national average for the first time since May 2014, falling from 5.5 percent in April 2015 to 5.4 percent in May 2015, on a preliminary, seasonally adjusted basis, according to estimates by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. At the same time, the U.S. unemployment rate rose slightly to 5.5 percent. Unemployment in the Seattle/Bellevue/Everett area fell to 4.1 percent.

Employment Security honors Washington employers for hiring veterans
OLYMPIA -Seven Washington employers will receive recognition from the state Employment Security Department for hiring veterans. Agency Commissioner Dale Peinecke announced the award recipients this week in conjunction with National Military Appreciation Month and the upcoming Memorial Day holiday.
