Initial unemployment insurance claims for week of August 9-15, 2020
OLYMPIA – More than 1 million Washingtonians have received almost $10 billion in benefits since the start of the pandemic. During the week of August 9 through August 15, there were 21,942 initial regular unemployment claims (down 0.9 percent from the prior week) and 589,631 total claims for all unemployment benefit categories (down 3.7 percent from the prior week) filed by Washingtonians, according to the Employment Security Department (ESD).

Washington economy recovers more jobs but unemployment rate rises. Washington’s economy added 44,500 jobs in July and the state’s preliminary seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate for July rose slightly from 10.0 percent to 10.3 percent according to the Employment Security Department (ESD).

Initial unemployment backlog cleared as Employment Security Department meets "Operation 100%" targets
The Washington Employment Security Department (ESD) announced on Monday it has resolved all claims included in the Operation 100% initiative. These include all individuals who had applied between March 8 and June 18 who had yet to receive payment and needed ESD to take action to resolve their claims.
