OLYMPIA –
If you’re interested in improving the lives of Walla Walla and College Place area residents who have disabilities, the Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment (GCDE) wants to hear from you.

The GCDE invites you to a public Town Hall Forum to discuss:

  • Accessible housing.
  • Services for families in need.
  • Jobs for people with disabilities.
  • Accessible transportation.
  • All other issues affecting people with disabilities, their families and their advocates.

What: GCDE Town Hall Forum
When: 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11
Where: SonBridge Community Center, 1200 Southeast 12th Ave., College Place, Washington

The day after the forum, the GCDE will take your top three or four concerns straight to local elected officials, service providers and leaders in the disability community to prioritize and strategize. But first — they need your ideas.

“The Town Hall is an opportunity for members of the Walla Walla and College Place communities to share their concerns and praise about services for people with disabilities. We take those concerns to those who have the power to affect change,” said Damiana Harper, co-vice Chair of the GCDE’s Community Outreach Subcommittee.

The GCDE Community Outreach Subcommittee travels to two communities every year. To read a summary of last year’s forum in Longview, see the GCDE Projects page on its website. Stemming from that forum, workgroups continue to meet to develop volunteer opportunities to address gaps in community services.
