SEATTLE – Gov. Jay Inslee hopes to boost Washington’s economy with an improved job match website developed by the state’s WorkSource career system and Monster Worldwide, Inc.

“Washington is home to some of the most innovative people and companies in the world,” Inslee said. “WorkSourceWA.com provides a great way to efficiently connect incredible talent through Monster’s technology. This collaboration will help our state reduce unemployment and grow our economy, while ensuring that Washingtonian workers and employers have opportunities to be successful and prosper.”

The new WorkSourceWA.com was unveiled during an event today at Group Health’s Capitol Hill Medical Center in Seattle. Group Health is one of more than 2,400 employers in Washington that have created accounts on the new website to advertise jobs and recruit talent since the site went live in May 2016. Group Health has posted more than 500 jobs on WorkSourceWA.com since May.

Washington is the second state to work with Monster to build a statewide platform using its industry-proven technology. WorkSourceWA.com offers employers vastly improved recruitment tools, including:

  • An award winning talent-management software to find qualified candidates faster.
  • Unlimited job postings for free.
  • The largest talent database in the state, including Monster’s candidate pool for all of Washington and bordering cities in Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
  • Automatic ranking and side-by-side comparison of resumes.

“We constantly are looking for the very best talent to meet our clinical and business needs,” said Gerard Fischer, vice president, Ancillary and Business Services, Group Health Cooperative. “We advertise many of our openings on the new WorkSourceWA.com site. The site helps us advertise our jobs to a diverse pool of qualified candidates, which easily helps us cut the time it takes to find the right employees for our jobs.”

Job seekers also will find vastly improved job hunting and career resources, including:

  • A new and improved resume builder to help them stand out.
  • Advanced job search tools to find jobs more easily.
  • Skill and interest assessment tools to chart a new career.
  • Economic data and a budget calculator to make informed career decisions.

“Washington’s WorkSource system is passionate about connecting employers with the workforce they need,” said Dale Peinecke, commissioner for the Employment Security Department (ESD). “WorkSourceWA.com gives job seekers and employers the tools they need to succeed. It shows the positive role government can play in helping businesses prosper and people improve their lives.”

WorkSourceWA.com provides employers and job seekers with the proven technology of Monster, but also offers access to the company’s resume bank and jobs posted in Washington.

Since going live on May 3, Washington residents have created more than 33,000 accounts—bringing the total number of available resumes for employers to view on the site to nearly 191,000. More than 2,400 employers have established accounts through WorkSourceWA.com to meet their talent needs since the site went live. Now, job seekers can find more than 157,000 total jobs on the site—including those already posted on Monster.com.

“Economic growth is fueled by efficiently and appropriately connecting jobs and people,” said Steve Cooker, executive vice president of Global Government Solutions for Monster Worldwide. “We worked closely with ESD and WorkSource leadership to understand the unique workforce challenges and opportunities in Washington, and configured our powerful labor exchange system to help Washington citizens not only explore new jobs but also to manage their careers.”

While support for most recruitment websites stops at the keyboard, WorkSource centers provide additional employment assistance. Local business representatives help employers improve their job postings, arrange interviews and conduct candidate assessments. They also host hiring events, help employers take advantage of tax credits and provide training resources.

Employment counselors provide similar help to job seekers: how to complete job applications, write dynamic resumes and take command of an interview. They also connect workers with resources such as short-term, long-term and online training programs.

“WorkSource Seattle-King County prides itself on seamless customer-centered design for businesses and job seekers,” says Marléna Sessions, chief executive officer of the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County. “We’re excited for the capabilities that WorkSourceWA.com brings to our customers, and we believe that it will be a tremendous resource to connect employers with the talent they’re seeking.”

WorkSource is a partnership of government agencies, community colleges and non-profit organizations offering employment and training services to job seekers and businesses.

Studies have shown that people who use WorkSource job search services tend to find work faster and earn more money than those who don’t. Find WorkSource offices using the locator tool on the website.
