OLYMPIA – Washington Service Corps members will get their hands dirty at a variety of Earth Day cleanup, planting and habitat restoration projects in King County. Look for people wearing vests with the AmeriCorps logo.

The Washington Service Corps is administered by the state Employment Security Department and funded by the federal AmeriCorps program.

Duwamish Alive!

What: Volunteers will remove trash from the Duwamish River via kayak, restore shoreline habitat and plant rain gardens.

Annual Earth Day Stewardship Fair

What: Washington Service Corps members will staff a marine-life touch tank, guide beach walks and teach kids about environmental stewardship and careers.

Redondo Beach cleanup

What: Scuba divers will collect trash under the water, while above-ground volunteers will clean up the beach and roads around Redondo Beach.

What: Volunteers will build raised-bed gardens for families in need in Shoreline and in the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle.
