ESD commits to end of year guaranteed processing for WA Cares Fund exemption applications received by Dec. 1, 2021.

OLYMPIA – ESD guarantees the agency will process all WA Cares Fund exemption applications submitted on or before Dec. 1, 2021, before premiums take effect in January.

“We understand customers may be feeling anxious about the status of their applications as the end of the year approaches,” said ESD’s Leave & Care Division Director Lisa Kissler. “If you qualify for an exemption and you apply before Dec. 1, 2021, you should not have to worry about whether you will be paying premiums in January. We will continue to process applications received after Dec. 1 as fast as possible.”

Once an application is processed, ESD sends a confirmation email. We will also begin sending confirmation emails for new applications within seven days of submission to indicate they were received.

If an applicant would like an update on the status of their application, we suggest they log into their SAW account. We ask that they avoid calling our customer care team to ask about status. Our agents cannot quote processing timelines for individual applications.
