OLYMPIA – The statewide WorkSource system has launched a new online calendar that makes it easier for job seekers to learn about job fairs or to register for job-search workshops anywhere in Washington.

The calendar allows job seekers to view and pre-register for workshops on résumés, interviewing skills and other job-search techniques. Hiring events, job clubs and other

WorkSource events also are posted on the calendar.

Job seekers can search the calendar by WorkSource office or region, sign up for courses, forward events to friends and add reminders to their social-media or email calendars.

“The new WorkSource calendar is a major service improvement for our customers,” said Dale Peinecke, commissioner of the Employment Security Department. “Now, job seekers can see all scheduled workshops and events in the state at one convenient location.”

Employment Security is a partner in the WorkSource system and host of the new statewide calendar. The statewide calendar replaces several locally produced event calendars that were not interconnected and could be hard to find.

“The WorkSource calendar is great for someone who is on the go,” said Reneda Milbourn, a WorkSource customer from Hoquiam. “It lets me organize and schedule all my job-search activities so I can get out there and look for work.”

The WorkSource calendar is accessible 24 hours a day on any device with Web access.

WorkSource is a partnership of state, local and nonprofit agencies that deliver a wide array of employment and training services throughout Washington. Most of the services are provided for free.
