Takes helm one year earlier than expected

OLYMPIAThe National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) Board of Directors announced today that President-Elect Dale Peinecke, Washington State Employment Security Department Commissioner, will assume the role of President, in accordance with its bylaws. He is replacing Curt Eysink, who is leaving his employment with the Louisiana Workforce Commission. These changes will take effect at the close of business today.

"I appreciate the hard work Curt has provided over the past year leading NASWA’s Strategic Planning Committee, which has set the course for the association to drive the national workforce agenda and provide superior value-added member services," said Dale Peinecke, incoming President of NASWA. "His leadership experience and passion for improving workforce development at the state and national levels will be missed."

Dale Peinecke was elected NASWA’s President-Elect in October 2015 and has served as Commissioner of the Washington State Employment Security Department since January 2013.  He spent more than 37 years in the aerospace and materials industries, including executive positions at Giddens Industries, Neuvant Aerospace, The Aerostructures Corp., Contour Aerospace and Alcoa. He has been engaged in Lean implementation efforts since 1985.

Curt Eysink has been the executive director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission since 2009. He led the transformation of the agency into a demand-driven workforce provider; expanded its workforce development programs to include rehabilitation services; re-engineered its unemployment insurance system into a re-employment program; and implemented workers’ compensation reforms that improved access to high quality health care for injured workers while resulting in a 17 percent reduction in premium costs for employers.

NASWA Executive Director Scott Sanders thanked Dale for stepping into his new role earlier than expected, saying “Dale’s leadership and passion will help us achieve our mission to take workforce development to the next level.”

He also expressed his appreciation for Curt’s service in Louisiana and the association. “Curt has been a positive force in NASWA’s leadership role,” said Sanders. “We thank him and will miss him.”

Founded in 1937, NASWA is a national organization of state administrators, and their staff, of the publicly-funded state workforce system, including the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), employment services, training programs, unemployment insurance, employment statistics and labor market information. The mission of NASWA is to enhance state workforce agencies' ability to accomplish their goals and their statutory roles and responsibilities.
