OLYMPIA – County unemployment rates and employment data for July 2026 are now available on the Employment Security Department website. Visit the labor force page to view historic and current data on the unemployment rate.
This month we spotlight Clark County. Emily Robertson, regional labor economist for southwest coastal Washington, said, “Clark County’s unemployment rate was 3.9% in July 2026, down from 4.7% in July of last year. Total nonfarm employment increased by 1,100 jobs from July 2025 to July 2026. Gains and losses varied by industry.”
Robertson added, “Construction lost 700 jobs over the year, despite adding jobs from June to July. In the service sector, private education and health services continued to be the strongest source of growth, adding 1,200 jobs over the year.”

Unemployment rates and employment estimates at the county level are not seasonally adjusted because the sample size is too small for some counties to accommodate the additional analysis. They should not be compared directly to the seasonally adjusted statewide rate published in the latest Monthly Employment Report.
